Four Tet Remixes + The XX Remixed + More.

I can't say I know too much about Four Tet and any of his original stuff, but I can say that his remixes are amazing. Not only are they awesome, but you can see how much Four Tet can change a song so dramatically while still maintaining certain elements. And make sure to check the originals out. (Top 3 are favorites)

We all love The XX, and this Re-edit of "Shelter" is great.

Extrawelt and Kollektiv Turmstrasse.

If I rate Trentemoller as my all time favorite producer, both Extrawelt and Kollektiv Turmstrasse come in a close second. I'm a huge minimal and techno fan, but the lack of any emotion and detachedness really can get to me after a while. That's why I'd have to put these two in a category of their own, because their sounds in minimal/techno really can't be matched.
Songs in *italics are essentials.

Fantasia 2000 Remixed!

I cannot believe I have only just discovered these videos, especially since they work with some of my favorite songs! The Kollektiv Turmstrasse one is perfection. It's genius! It works so beautifully that I wonder whether they used Fantasia to work with their song. I'm trying to get more info but nothing for now...
Watch in full screen and enjoy the adventures.
PS: Try not to cry.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse's "Holunderbaum (Rumpel Mix)"

Ratatat Reversed!

Have you ever listened to Ratatat and wondered, "Hey! This stuff sounds like it's played backwards!"? Well I'm not sure whether they do record and reverse anything, but some of their stuff really does sound awesome in reverse. I made these a while ago, but check them out if you haven't already:

Pan-Pot - "Confronted" (The Remixes)

If you've listened to any Techno this year, you've heard Pan-Pot's "Confronted." And you liked it.
With the dark bass line, the eerily sexy lyrics and the obligatory white noise, how could you not?
It's about time we're getting some remixes, my favorites being the Adam Beyer & Jesper Dahlback and Martin Landsky versions.
While I don't think they have too much on the original, they are still definitely MASSIVE tracks (yeah I said it).

Awesome RA Podcasts

Every week, ResidentAdvisor.net hosts podcasts from some of the best DJs around the world. While the list is quite long at 171, I'll just link some of my favorites (that and I haven't come even close to listening to the entire list). And If you're curious to see the entire list, check it out at RA.

RA.037 Oliver Huntemann (German Electro/Techno)
Full of awesome deeper and somewhat darker techno (by my standards at least).

RA.043 Stephan Bodzin (German Electro/Techno)
Sounds similar to Huntemann's mix but with a slightly more interesting tracklist.

RA.100 Richie Hawtin (Minimal)
Not my favorite mix by him, but definitely still up there. Try it as background music first.

RA.145 DJ Koze ("music for nonexistent dancefloors")
My favorite opening to any mix. Ever. Goosebumps every time. An overall really chill mix.

RA.150 Booka Shade (Electro/Tech House/Minimal)
A "fun" mix between so many genres.

RA.152 Ellen Allien (Techno)
Great buildup throughout the whole set.

RA.153 Intrusion (Dub Techno)
Chill and easygoing mix. Great intro to the genre.

Essential Mixes You Should Download Right Now

Trentemoller's Essential Mix:
Definitely one of the best mixes out there. Period. The way he blends between genres is mindblowing. Most of it is pretty chill, but by the end you'll definitely be out of your chair.
Also check out "Harbour Boat Trips: Copenhagen by Trentemoller". Very Chill. Extremely powerful.

Gui Boratto's Essential Mix:
If you've heard of Gui Boratto, you're probably thinking of "Beautiful Life" and "No Turning Back." And if you're familiar with him, you'll know that everything he touches turns to gold (including his remixes of "Love" "I'm In Love With a German Film Star"). No joke.

Sasha's Essential Mix @ Cream Amnesia, Ibiza:
We all know Sasha. Do I really have to say anything?

Fedde Le Grand's Essential Mix:
You probably know him from "Put Your Hands Up For Detroit." This mix is full of the same "rougher house" sound and will keep you going strong for 2 hours. Turn it up really loud on the freeway or before you're about to head out for the night.

Tiga's Essential Mix
He goes hard. Just do it.

Richie Hawtin & Dubfire, Magda & Locodice
Hawtin AND Dubfire?! Magda AND Locodice?! Together?! ....WHAT?! The title almost gives me more goosebumps than the buildups. Ok not really, but the Minimal and Techno is just insane.
If you've never heard of these guys (and girl), do yourself a favor and become a fan.

Haruki Matsuo - "P.O.P" (Chill/Listening Techno)
Sleeper Thief - "Freefall" (Listening Techno)
Ulrich Schnauss - "Stars" (Listening Techno/Vocal)
Voudeux - "Just A Spoonful" (Listening Techno)

First Post.

Hey, so I've finally decided to get this up and running. I'm not sure if I'm going to stay on Blogspot but we'll see how it goes.
The main reason for this site was to show my buddies good tunes easily. So if you're into electronic music and are looking for good sound, from classic tunes to new releases, they'll be here, as well as upcoming events in NYC.
